Inspirations – Spring colour scheme, flowers and favours

Our previous blog was about Victoria and Ben’s wedding in Hertfordshire. The details and colours that made up their wedding were so beautiful that we thought they deserved to be showcased in a separate piece.

They chose to use colours of silver and white with a dash of aubergine. This was worked beautifully throughout: in the flowers, decorations and accessories, with the aubergine colour appearing in subtle ways. The top table had aubergine chiffon around their chairs whilst the rest of the chairs in the marquee had silver chiffon. Little bridesmaids complimented their ivory dresses with the same aubergine chiffon tied as a waistband. Even the cake had a slight colouring of aubergine on the fondant petals.

Andrew Fleming was the florist and he produced beautiful bouquets and amazing table centre pieces, as well as decorating the church with his wonderful displays. Again aubergine effectively featured throughout. Tall, silver candelabras were stunning when lit, giving the marquee such a warm glow.

Other lovely touches were the white grand piano, being played throughout the meal; the white dancefloor with sparkly lights; and decorative trees which surrounded the dancefloor with blue fairy lights.

Finally, we have to comment on the favours, as they were so very clever. Each guest had been bought a lottery ticket! Let’s hope someone went home richer that night.

Victoria & Ben Brocklesby, Micklefield Hall, Hertfordshire

Victoria and Ben were married on May 1st at Christ Church, Chorleywood. Their reception was held at one of our favourite venues, Micklefield Hall in Hertfordshire. The bride looked stunning in dress made for her by her Godmother and the colour scheme for the day was predominantly silver and white with a dash of aubergine, simple but very stylish. The weather had been predicted rain but it held out until just after everyone was inside the marquee – perfect timing!

The wedding was kept on schedule by the toastmaster, Vanessa King, and the moving images of the day were filmed by the lovely Damo at Reel60. If you want to see more of the images from the day, please take a look at our Flickr page.

Easter skiing in Switzerland!

While the Pearl girls took themselves off for a spot of sunshine and skiing in the beautiful Swiss Alps over Easter, they marvelled at what a place this is for romance! Whether winter or summer, the Swiss Alps are truly breathtaking. We stayed in the picturesque village of Wengen, in the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland. Around here there are some wonderful places to get married or spend your honeymoon.

You could get married at the “Shilthorn” – the famous James Bond 007 location from “On her Majesty’s Secret Service”, which sits on a summit and has breathtaking 360 degree views over the snow covered mountains.

You could honeymoon by taking the famous train ride to the Jungfraujoch mountain – named the “top of Europe” – and then stop en-route back down to stay on the mountain surrounded by stunning landscape at the cosy Hotel Bellevue in Kleine Scheidegg, (http:www.scheidegg-hotels.ch). Or, if you fancy being in the hustle and bustle a little bit more (but not too much) you could stay further down the mountain in Wengen, a charming, picture postcard, car free village where we recommend the Hotel Regina (http:www.hotelregina.ch) for traditional alpine luxury.

Finally, if you fancy something more modern in style and design, we suggest staying nearby in Adelboden at The Cambrian. Listed with Mr & Mrs Smith hotel directory (http://www.mrandmrssmith.com) this hotel would make the perfect honeymoon stop, whether you want the winter thrill snow action, the summer serenity for walks, or simply to enjoy the spa while taking in the views!

Here are some photos of the areas described to wet your appetite and have you dreaming of a holiday if nothing else. Now, back to work … a busy summer of weddings at the ready… and where are those swiss chocolates?! ….

Wedding at Orchardleigh, Somerset

Early in October Pearl Pictures shot a wedding at the stunning location of Orchardleigh in Somerset. The bride and groom were Vicky and Gordon Duncan, who were accompanied by beautiful bridesmaids including their 1 year old little girl, Daisy. Vicky’s vintage dress was decorated in streams of beads and pearls, and styled in the 1940’s. The whole style of the day was very ‘vintage glamour’ with Orchardleigh being the perfect backdrop.

Lucy gets married!

Our very own Director at Pearl Pictures, Lucy, got married to Matthew Barbour on 5th September this year with an English country garden wedding in Wiltshire. “We wanted a wedding that was truly personal, so chose to have a marquee in the garden where I grew up” says Lucy. “The idea was to start with a very english, country feel at the church and move the day through to a chic and contemporary styled marquee to reflect our life in London, where we have lived for the last 10 years.”. With guests transported to the quaint country church by a red London routemaster bus, Lucy and Matthew opted for a horse and carriage. Once back at “The Chestnuts” the champagne flowed and guests mingled in the garden to music by the “Stickey Bass Jazz Trio”. Once in the marquee the guests sat at tables named after trees in the garden and dined on cannon of lamb with summer vegetables, followed by lemon and passionfruit tart. At 9.30pm, one of the Ushers, Nick, played with his band “The Black Hats”  and the guests danced the night away until carriages at 1am. Photography by Graham Morgan & Jemma Watts.

Wedding at the Haymarket Hotel, London

Richard and Cassa were married in Notting Hill and held their reception at the beautiful Haymarket Hotel in London. The party was more like a stylish New York cocktail party that a wedding reception! It was a very glamorous affair, where fancy cocktails were poured and food was served as bite-sized portions in the sumptuously decorated rooms at the hotel. The wedding cake was a tower of cupcakes. Cassa runs a dance company so once the music started everyone was on the dancefloor, dancing their hearts out.
